Happy First Day of School!

We are so thankful for our local community partners! This year, Chicken N Pickle chose Bear Creek to be the recipient of their school supply drive.
We asked for snacks, notebooks, and pencil boxes, and we received a huge number of donations. Your generosity will make a big difference for our students!

Welcoming our newest families to the Creek! We had a wonderful time at our Pre-K camp, where our newest students got a sneak peek into their classrooms and became a little more comfortable with their new school environment.
Our teachers were so excited to meet everyone and can't wait to start the school year! A huge thank you to our amazing PTA volunteers for helping to tell our school's story and for making the night so special. We couldn't have done it without you!

We welcome our new School Resource Officer!

Join us for a special first day of school! On Wednesday, August 13, parents are invited to walk their children to class and then head to the school library for muffins. It's the perfect time to meet other parents, say hello to neighbors, and connect with friends. We can't wait to see you!
Doors open at 7:20 a.m. Class starts at 7:35 am.

What a wonderful way to kick off the school year! Our kindergarten camp was a huge success. Thanks to our amazing staff and PTA for making it a welcoming experience for all our BCE families. We loved seeing our young cubs get to know their classrooms!
Welcome class of 2038.

The energy was magical as our educators gathered for the first day of the 2025-2026 school year. It was a day of joyful reunions, warm introductions, and lots of laughter as new teachers were welcomed into the fold. They collaborated on exciting plans for the year ahead and took time to have a little fun together, too. We are so incredibly happy to have our teachers back, their enthusiasm promising a magical year for our Cubs.

The halls of Bear Creek are buzzing with new faces! We had a wonderful week welcoming all our new teachers to campus for their orientation. From picking up classroom keys to selecting their NEU Colleges, they're already part of the Cub Family.
We're thrilled to have so many passionate educators join us and are looking forward to a fantastic school year!

Summer is for recharging, but it's also for preparing! Our incredible grade level leaders gathered to build a strong team culture and learn about our plans for the year. The leaders at Bear Creek are committed to helping their fellow teachers and making this a fantastic year for our students and staff. We can't wait to see what they accomplish!

Summer Learning:
A Glimpse into Our Teachers' Dedication!
Ever wonder what our amazing teachers and staff are up to during the summer break? We're excited to give you a sneak peek into some of the preparations already underway for the upcoming school year!
The last week of June and first week of July, a dedicated group of our teachers had the privilege of attending the "Get Your Teach On" conference at the Gaylord in Grapevine, Texas. These educators, representing various departments and grade levels, participated in a week-long immersive experience. They delved deep into topics like small group instruction, academic standards, and best teaching practices, bringing back a wealth of new strategies and insights to enrich our classrooms.
We are incredibly proud of their dedication, hard work, and the time they committed to honing their craft. Their ongoing commitment to professional development directly benefits our students, and we can't wait to see the positive impact of their learning this year!

Hello Bear Creek community! My name is Emily Hanaway and I am excited to be working at both Bear Creek Elementary and Silver Lake Elementary as a student support specialist. I taught 2nd grade for four years and this will be my second year in this role. Prior to teaching, I earned both my B.S. in Early Childhood Education and M.Ed. in Special Education from TCU - go Frogs! Outside of school, I love watching sports, reading, and spending time with my family. I’m ready for a wonderful year and can’t wait to get to know the staff and families of Bear Creek!

I am genuinely excited to have the opportunity to teach at Bear Creek Elementary. This will be my fourth year teaching pre-kindergarten and my eighth year teaching overall. I am proud to be a native Texan. In my free time, I enjoy reading, spending quality time with friends and loved ones, and engaging in creative activities. I look forward to nurturing children's enthusiasm for learning and supporting their growth.

Hi! I’m MacKensie Jaso, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Bear Creek family! This is my first year teaching Pre-K, and I couldn’t be more excited to begin this journey! It is a true joy and privilege to be part of the foundational years of my students’ educational experience. I’m passionate about creating a welcoming environment where each child enjoys learning and feels valued and loved. I’ve called Grapevine home for the past 17 years, where I live with my family and our two beloved dogs. My daughter is a senior at LSU—Geaux Tigers!—and my son is currently in 8th grade at HMS—Go Broncos! In my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends, cheering on my kids’ sports teams, and enjoying Mexican food!
I look forward to the 2025-26 school year and cannot wait to meet all of you!

Hello! My name is Laura and I will be the new school nurse! I was born in Oregon but spent my entire life here in Argyle, TX. Texas Tech will always have my heart. After graduating, I spent 7 years at Children’s Health Dallas in the PICU and Trauma ICU. I switched to one of the clinical educators before moving to school nursing. I love tennis, traveling, my family, working with children and my 2 dogs (Chief and Theo). I’m very excited to get started and meet you all!

Hello Bear Creek! I am beyond excited to join the BCE family this fall as a fourth grade Reading/Language Arts and Social Studies teacher! This will be my seventh year in the classroom, and I’ve had the joy of teaching second through fifth grades. Reading is my absolute favorite subject, and I can't wait to help my fourth graders fall in love with a great book!
I grew up in the Texas Panhandle in a tiny town called Vega and graduated from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX. My husband and I are nearly empty nesters as our youngest heads off to Texas Tech this fall. Wreck ’Em! We also have two daughters, one amazing son-in-law, and the BEST addition to our family: our first grandbaby, Koda, who is 17 months old.
We recently relocated to the beautiful city of Grapevine and are so happy to call it home. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you in the halls of Bear Creek this August. It’s going to be a fantastic year!
