🍡 April Fools’ Day or April Science? The second-grade hallways at Bear Creek were filled with curious minds and suspicious squinting today! Our clever teachers, Mrs. Herring, Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Wepfer decided to test our students’ scientific skepticism with a very special "April Fools' Lab." The "Marshmallow Lifecycle" During science, the kids were presented with a puzzling lesson on the seeds of a marshmallow and the specific nutrients a marshmallow needs to grow in the wild. * The Task: Students were asked to observe, analyze, and even document the full lifecycle of a marshmallow. The teachers told them to find the seeds; they told them they were tiny like banana seeds. * The Reaction: Our savvy second graders weren't buying it for a second! As the lesson went on, the hands went up. Questions started flying about how "sugar fluff" could possibly have a lifecycle. The Big Reveal After a flurry of tough questions and some very skeptical faces, the teachers finally gave in. The verdict? APRIL FOOLS! It turns out you can’t pull a fast one on these Bear Creek scientists. They know their biology far too well to believe in marshmallow bushes! Way to stay sharp, Second Grade! Your critical thinking skills are officially "sweet." 💛💙🐻

Our BCE Paraprofessionals work tirelessly to meet the needs of our Cubs in every corner of the school. From running the "front of the house" in the office to providing vital academic support in the classrooms, they do it all! You’ll find them in the gym helping our students build strength and in our tech labs ensuring every device is running smoothly. The Big Reveal is here! 🐾📖 What a month it’s been at Bear Creek! From February 5 through March 6, our Cubs have been on the edge of their seats for our annual "Read Across the Creek" event. Our amazing staff went under cover (literally!) in hilarious inflatable costumes to share their favorite stories. The mystery was real, the laughs were loud, and the reading was better than ever. Mrs. Brosi, our librarian, organized an amazing reading program. A massive THANK YOU to our wonderful PTA for partnering with us and providing the costumes that made this magic possible. We loved seeing the joy on our students' faces during the final Masked Reader Reveal!

Huge cheers for our very own Remi Connolly (Teacher of the Year) and Geni Rodriguez (Professional of the Year)! They don't just share a classroom; they share a passion for helping our students thrive every single day. Seeing this powerhouse duo recognized together is the highlight of our year!

Yesterday's weather science program was captivating. Our presenter shared firsthand accounts from their time in the field—including getting to witness almost 100 tornadoes! Today’s book club lunch bunch discussion cards asked them: to identify which bad guy character they would be, relate to the characters about having friends different than you, analyze what it means to be good even though the characters are “bad” and give examples from the book. Yay Books!📚 💛💙🐻

We have the most awesome librarian at BCE. She started a new Book Club and we had a great turnout. This week, they had their first meeting. Many 2nd graders had lunch in the library while they read Chapter 1 of The Bad Guys. Yay books!

💖🐻 Spreading Kindness at Bear Creek! 🐻💖 We had such a wonderful time celebrating World Kindness Day by focusing on friendship! Our students put so much heart into writing kind notes on the back of stickers and gifting them to members of the BCE community. 💌✨ It warmed our hearts to see the thoughtfulness and generosity flowing through our halls. We absolutely LOVE kindness at Bear Creek Elementary!

We love our community partners. We are so thankful to have had the Garden Club visit Bear Creek. They read to third grade last week.
