It is time to start the course selection process for high school!
High School Counselors from Grapevine High School & Colleyville Heritage High School have met with your 8th grade student.
Each student will be given a copy of their own 4 year plan that was completed last semester along with a green freshman course request sheet and a white freshman course list. Students will bring all three of those documents home tomorrow. The 4 year plan and white list of course offerings are for reference only – they do not need to be returned. Please use those documents to assist in completing the green course request sheet which needs to be returned to 8th grade social studies teachers no later than Friday, January 27th.
As we said last semester, the 4 year plan is “just a plan”. It is not binding in any way. Students may copy all of the freshman courses from it onto their green course request sheet or they can start from scratch and choose completely different courses than they have on their 4 year plans. CMS counselors DO NOT need to be informed of any changes to 4 year plans that you make from this point forward as we will no longer have access to them after tomorrow. The green course selections sheet will be the document used by high school counselors to determine which classes each student will be placed in their freshman year.
On February 1st, high school counselors will return to CMS to meet with each 8th grade student individually. At that time, they will review the green course selection sheets with students to ensure accuracy and to make corrections and/or suggestions. They will then use those green course selection sheets to create freshman schedules. Before the end of this school year (probably May, 2023), you will have the opportunity to review course requests in Skyward for accuracy and any mistakes will be corrected by highs school counselors at that time.
