Upcoming CMS THEATRE 2023-2024 Season

*Fall Show: Everything you always wanted to know about your teachers (but were afraid to ask) by Jason Pizzarello

Performance Dates: Thursday, October, 26th, and Fri October, 27th at 7 PM in the CMS Cafeteria Stage. 
Tickets: ALL GCISD Staff and Faculty are Free if you bring your District ID on the night of the performance. All other GCISD community members, family, and friends will be $5 at the door.


*Winter Show/ Elementry School Show: Letters to Santa by CMS Theatre Playbill Class

Performance Dates: Elementry School Dates are TBD, and Friday, December, 15th in the CMS Cafeteria Stage.
**Tickets: There will be no tickets sold for this show. This is our yearly CMS Assembly Performance and Elementary School Tour show. 


*UIL Show: Masterclasses (The Morley Buck School of Serious Acting for Extraordinary Actors) By Patrick Greene 

UIL One Act Play Performance: Thursday, February 15th at GHS (Performance Time TBA).
Performance Dates:
 Public Performance Dates are: Fine Arts Festival the first week of February (Fine Arts Peromfnace Dates TBD), Final Two Performances will be, Thursday, February, 22nd, and Fri February, 23rd at 7 PM in the CMS Cafeteria Stage. 
Tickets: ALL GCISD Staff and Faculty are Free if you bring your District ID on the night of the two final performances. All other GCISD community members, family, and friends will be $5 at the door.


*Spring Show: Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic by Matt Cox

Performance Dates: Thursday, May 9th, and Friday, May 10th at 7 PM in the CMS Cafeteria Stage. 
Tickets: ALL GCISD Staff and Faculty are Free if you bring your District ID on the night of the performance. All other GCISD community members, family, and friends will be $5 at the door.

Theatre Classes offered for 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade:
*6th Grade Theatre Arts
Theatre I

Course No. FAT6

Theatre I at the 6th grade level is a beginning Creative Dramatics class. It introduces young performers to blocking, stage movement, and projection through ensemble collaboration. Performers gain self-confidence, and develop speaking, presentation and problem solving skills. Creative dramatics leads students into self-expression and communication in a dramatic form. Units covered may include acting, improvisation, mime and movement, puppetry, storytelling, ensemble, and team building.



*7th Grade Theatre Arts

Theatre I

Course No. FAT78

Theatre I at the 7th grade level is designed to introduce the student to the many performing and technical aspects of theatre. Students will learn basic acting techniques (stage movement, developing voice, memorizing lines, etc.), improvisation, mime techniques, character development, basic scene study (group and individual monologues), script analysis and performance critiquing. In small ensembles, duets and individually, students will prepare and perform scenes in class demonstrating these skills. 

Theatre II 

Course No. FAT2

Prerequisite: Theatre I

Theatre II at the 7th grade level builds upon the skills learned in Theatre I. Students will continue to strengthen their acting skills in a variety of theatrical experiences, including reading and writing plays, as well as memorized and improvisational performance.

Theatre Playbill 

Course No. FATP

Prerequisites: Audition & Teacher Approval

This year long course gives students the opportunity to prepare and rehearse for events used in competitive speech/theatre tournaments. Participation in tournament competition or a class program is required. Students will develop the ability to work independently in the classroom. Students will also explore on a developmental level, aspects of theatre production as they prepare for performances. Students will experience the entire process of mounting a theatrical production both on and offstage. This class is designed for those students developing an interest in pursuing acting and production in 8th grade and high school. 



*8th Grade Theatre Arts

Theatre I

Theatre I at the 8th grade level is designed to introduce the student to the many performing and technical aspects of theatre. Theatre III at the 8th grade level builds upon the skills learned in Theatre I and Theatre II. Students will continue to strengthen their acting skills in a variety of theatrical experiences

Theatre Playbill 

Course No. FATP
